Depression can be experienced differently by different people. For some people it is so subtle, they don’t even realise that what they are experiencing is a form of depression. For others, it is so debilitating that it can affect every area of their life.

So are you someone who feels flat or down or extremely overwhelmed with deep sadness that you don’t know what to do? Depression is something that can exist in isolation but usually it exists in conjunction with anxiety and/ or addiction.

A vast majority of the clients who have come for sessions at Your Inner Power are experiencing some form of depression.

The definition of depression by wikipedia is “Depression is a state of low mood and aversion to activity. It can affect a person’s thoughts, behavior, motivation, feelings, and sense of well-being.”

It has been found that women are about twice as likely as men to develop major depression. They also have higher rates of seasonal affective disorder, depressive symptoms in bipolar disorder, and dysthymia (chronic depression). One large-scale study in 2017 found that these gender differences emerge starting at age 12.

The peak onset of depressive disorders in women coincides with their reproductive years (between the ages of 25 to 44 years of age), hormonal risk factors may play a role.

She initially put her mood down to a lack of sleep but as time passed, she began to realise how, even when she had some sleep, her mood and motivation were at an all time low. This experience gave her a greater insight into her clients and she also got to make use of these powerful techniques to help change the way she felt and release her from this state of depression.
